How Time Out portrayed Portugal in 1984

We were old, cheap, had good wine and great food. That's what the intro says... mmm

Well, some things change...
"Like Soho without the sex shops, it's to the Bairro Alto that you should head most evenings. The whole quarter is packed with tiny restaurants (try Bichano in Rua Atalia), bars and, of course, Casas de Fado. These clubs, which feature the national version of the blues, all make a minimum charge (around 4 to 8 pounds), but in typically reasonable Portuguese fashion this should see you through a good evening's eating and drinking as well as admission."
